Jens presented his [slides](https://gitlab.esrf.fr/bliss/bliss/-/wikis/uploads/c8f90fc81d0f8ae5f5108b8aee1a0882/BLISS_Steer_19_5_2020.pdf) , with the beamline status:

,the main outstanding items/concerns ( lack of comissioning time with beam among others), beamlines to be converted by the end of August 2020 and also for 2021 (ID24, ID27, ID29, BM05, BM18 plus the CRG beamlines BM07, BM14, BM02 and BM32).

Harald raised his concerns about the fact the ESRF has 45 beamlines but only half would be done by August 2021 and asked how much longer would it take to have all beamlines converted. Jens replied that it would take an extra two years (to August 2023) as there are new ESB beamlines, operation and other projects to be done at the BCU.
Veijo said that he believes the BCU may be spending significant amounts of time converting macros and obsolete SPEC functionality into BLISS. In order to clarify this point Thomas asked whether time is spent mostly on devices or macros and Jens replied that it is mostly devices but beamlines are complex and they take time. Proposing completing more beamlines by end of August 2021 is not realistic.

Laurent reported that ID01 is not on the list (in the image above), however P. Boesecke is already workong on it.
Harald explained his wish that the BCU should focus on migrating devices with beamlines doing work on macros which would help migrate more beamlines from SPEC to BLISS faster.
Harald also asked who is doing the CRG conversion and Jens replied that French CRGs hired a colleague and BM14 has a contract.
Veijo shared concerns that work is not efficient with multiples versions of the same functionality being developed at the same time (duplication of effort), for example for Tomography (ID15, TomoBridge, BM05, etc.) to which Jens replied that it is already planned to merge these different streams of work.
Harald then made clear his wish that given that it is not feasible to complete absolutely everything for each beamline and scientist, we should allocate a limited amount of time per beamline and signalling some areas of work as not possible / not a priority.
NEW ACTION : Jens to provide a list of current outstanding work to complete beamlines (listed in the image above), including some timescales. These timescales should be enough to provide to each beamline a minimum viable BLISS system (MVB), supporting devices frequently used. If in the time allocated to the beamline some macros / sequences can be converted from SPEC into BLISS that will be done as a lower priority, however no further work will be done at a beamline once the allocated time is spent, unless prioritised by the BLISS Steering Committee.
Harald agreed that some sequences are complicated (e.g. continuous scans), but most of these and macros should be done by BL staff and not by the BCU.
