Width slider in nodes is not responsive and behaves erratically

When double-clicking on a node, I can make a slider appear. I assume this is to tune the node box width.

Unfortunately, using the slider is not very convenient:

• It does not feel responsive but seems to be lagging behind input. Perhaps the computation behind is too heavy ?
• It behaves erratically as the width of the node can change abruptly.

I can't even record a GIF of the issue as moving the slider overloads my CPU...
