Toolbar looks disabled in execution mode but is still active

When I enter Execution mode (by clicking on the paper plane button), the buttons to the left change color making look like they are disabled:

However, I can still click on them and they still fire the requested actions. Is this deliberate ?

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
