Not nice, but the fastest way to provide enough drive.

First guess: Four times the pixel count ⇒ four times the load.

This function is enabled by one more bit in the digital register.

Put it on position 0 of the monitoring, as the register as reset to 0 by
the POR.

And make the excess selections well-defined.

That's where the RAM is actually present.

Also, using $bits() does not work.

Reduces the number of combinatorical instances from ~48 to <30.

The mixed-mode simulation fails with an "internal error" ⇒ postpone.

Was only useful for VHDL@top designs.
